Discover Boating New England Boat Show Equals Big Business for Boston & Beyond

WHAT: The Discover Boating® New England Boat Show®, in partnership with Progressive Insurance®, returns to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center January 8-12, 2025 showcasing more than 500 boats for every budget and lifestyle. The annual event – the region’s longest-running and largest boat show – invites thousands of New Englanders to Boston’s Seaport and drives significant economic impact for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its local businesses. 

A new economic contribution study conducted by the Recreation Marine Research Center at Michigan State University reveals the following:

  • The Discover Boating New England Boat Show drives approximately $2.3 million in spending in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts during the five days of the show alone.
  • Spending across the five days of the Show is just a portion of the $5 billion annual revenue generated by the recreational boating industry in Massachusetts, supporting more than 1,000 businesses and 17,614 jobs.
  • The total economic contribution of the 2024 New England Boat Show to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was 372 jobs, $14.8 million in labor income, and $28.2 million to the state’s annual gross state product.
  • At the 2024 Boat Show, 23,304 attendees spent approximately $2.3 million in Massachusetts during the five days of the show, based on tourism spending figures from the Massachusetts Department of Tourism.
  • Show vendors attribute an average of 13.9% of annual sales to the New England Boat Show, with some reaching 40% of annual sales.
  • Estimated sales during the show in 2024 amounted to $58.7 million, with an additional estimated $85.1 million generated post-show.
